The Madison Blues, based in Madison, Wisconsin, were founded in 1923 by the Madison Athletic Association and spent nearly two decades working their way up through Wisconsin's minor league ladder. They started as an independent club, joined the Wisconsin-Illinois League in 1926, moved to the Wisconsin State League (1928-31 and 1934-37), and won the Tri-State League championship in 1938 over the Sheboygan Chairmakers. In 1940 they stepped up to the Class B Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League, the highest level the franchise ever reached.

Their Three-I seasons were played out against the backdrop of wartime. The Blues went 61-62 in 1940 (sixth place), 52-71 in 1941 (seventh place), and 55-62 in 1942 as a Chicago Cubs affiliate, that final season making the playoffs before losing to the Cedar Rapids Cubs 3-0 in the finals. All three seasons were played at Breese Stevens Field, a brick grandstand on Madison's east side that had become the first sports facility in Wisconsin with electric lights when floodlights were installed in 1931. Warren Spahn, later the Hall of Fame left-hander and winner of 363 major league games, pitched against the Blues in 1941 as a member of the visiting Evansville Bees. Jesse Owens, the four-time gold medalist from the 1936 Berlin Olympics, ran exhibition races at the field in 1938 during a Blues home game.

The 1942 season was the Blues' last. Wartime demands on players and resources depleted the league's rosters, and Madison did not return. When the Three-I reorganized for 1946, the Davenport Cubs took the slot Madison had vacated, and the Blues identity never came back.

The Three-I League (also known as the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League) was a Class B circuit that ran from 1901 through 1961, with pauses for World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II. Though rooted primarily in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa, the league also drew clubs from Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota as its core membership contracted in later years.

4.5 Stars - Highly Recommend- Will Buy Copies for My Kids
Format: Paperback
I was torn between 4 and 5 stars, because this book is very good. The pay no taxes part of the book is a solid 5 stars. However, I was much more interested in the buy, borrow, die strategies. Those strategies are good, including a fairly thorough explanation and use cases. But there wasn't enough explanation of the long-term handling of the debt and the possibility of margin calls. If you leverage 50% of your portfolio and the market goes down 30 to 35%, which does happen, you can quickly get in trouble. Many of the current ETFs that pay high dividends haven't been around long enough to go through a 30 - 35% market drop, so it's difficult to accurately predict how they'll perform. Of course, if you don't overleverage, the chances of a margin call are much lower, even if the market tanks. Also, the book says to invest in assets you can borrow against, including stock, ETFs, real estate, crypto, and gold/silver. On the surface, this is a good strategy. While you can borrow against these things, borrowing against precious metals carries a higher interest rate (though I'm sure if you have tens of millions, you can find better rates, but most people don't have that much), and borrowing against crypto is dangerous. Hopefully crypto will become better protected, but right now, the company lending you money against your crypto can just run off with your crypto. It has happened. The reason I rated the book 4 stars instead of 5 is solely because I'm more interested in buy, borrow, die than the tax coverage. If I bought the book for the tax avoidance, it would be a 5. Overall, I highly recommend the book. I'm going to buy a copy for both of my children, who are in their 20's.

Informative process, with examples and suggestions!
Format: Paperback
Easy to read book on Buy, Borrow, Die method to build wealth for yourself and future generations. I learned enough that I bought the other books from Mark. His writing is comfortable, chapters are divided up nicely, and they are short enough that you can read one in just a few min (important for us people that get interrupted every 10 min).

Zero taxes = zero country
Format: Paperback
Suppose every American was able to pay no taxes. What would happen? Seems reasonable that everyone should pay something to enjoy America’s freedom. It’s reasonable that we take advantage of tax laws but not to the point where no one pays taxes.
