Vergeleken met conventionele bitten is de middenschakel ook ingekort. Deze anatomische aanpassing optimaliseert het effect merkbaar in vergelijking met conventionele dubbelgelede bitten.
Wanneer de teugels worden opgenomen, rolt de middelste schakel – ook wel de “ruitvorm” genoemd vanwege zijn opvallende vorm – zachtjes over het centrale deel van de tong van het paard, waardoor het tastgevoel wordt gestimuleerd.
