Yellow for Lucas!
Thank you for everyone's support for Lucas. We will have yellow ribbons on campus until Tuesday, showing support for Lucas at Mary Seat of Wisdom. We have collected about $2000 for his family. Please keep Lucas and his family in your prayers!

Preparing for Lent
Palm Burning Prayer Service in the Safe Zone: March 1st
Safe Zone
We will gather in the Safe Zone for a Palm Burning Prayer Service. Please have your children bring in their palms from last year's Palm Sunday to their classroom by February 25th. We will use those Palms in the prayer service.

March 2nd: Ash Wednesday Mass
10:00 am K-8
School Mass Only
After Mass, ashes will be distributed in the classrooms, and we will also distribute ashes to PS, Multi, and PK.

Save the Date! March 11th, Go to the Movies With Dr. M!
On March 11th, join Dr. M at the Pickwick at 10:00 am to watch Encanto! All proceeds will benefit Our Lady of Charity Catholic School in Cicero. We hope to help give the gift of Catholic education to others. We are blessed with many gifts at SPC and hope to share the gift of Catholic education with others. Please click here to buy tickets! Popcorn and a drink are provided!

Uniforms Until June
As I mentioned in previous Thursday mailings, we will continue the spirit wear uniform policy for the rest of the school year, given the supply chain disruption. For the 22-23 School year formal dress code will resume.

Haircuts: Grades 6th-8th
Per our SPC Handbook (page 82), "Hair touching shirt collars on boys is unacceptable. Hair extending below eyebrows or extreme hairstyles is unacceptable for both boys and girls. Administration reserves the right to define extreme."
Please see that your child's hair is aligned with the school policy. I believe some UGC students are in need of a haircut.

Daddy Daughter Dance! Save the Date for April 30th
Calling all dads, uncles, or grandfathers: The Daddy Daughter Dance will be on April 30th in the gym. There will be 2 time slots; 5:30 pm-7:00 pm and 7:30-9:00 pm. Stay tuned for sign-up information.

SPC Summer Camps 2022
We will be opening up the SPC Summer Camp to the public soon. If you still want to sign up, please sign up before February 27th. Some of the camps are already filled.

Parent Feedback Needed: 5Essentials Survey
The 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

Prior research has shown that schools that were strong on at least three of these "5Essential" indicators were 10 times more likely to improve student learning gains in math and reading than those that were weak on three or more Essentials.

All teachers and 4th through 12th-grade students will be responding to this survey. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. These reports will be sent to schools and districts in May 2022.

Additionally, the Archdiocese has chosen to provide the 5Essential parent survey. A parent supplement report will also be generated if at least 20 percent of St Paul of the Cross parents complete this survey.

Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child's school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept entirely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The 5Essentials Survey will be conducted from February 15 through March 18, 2022. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/archchicago/survey/parent/.

Home & School Association

TRIP (our gift card tuition reimbursement program) rebates were processed earlier this week. Some families earned over $500 in rebates to their FACTS account by purchasing gift cards they use on a daily basis. For example, Lands End provides a 15% rebate back to families by purchasing e-gift cards from the site before they process their order.

Moving forward, "TRIP" will be transitioning to the RAISE RIGHT app where you can order physical gift cards shipped directly to your home.  More information about the app can be found here E-cards and additional gift cards can still be found on the website, but SPC will no longer have physical gift cards in stock for purchase. SPC's access code for the app is C21ELFAD426. This will link directly to your family's account.

We are also looking for 2 parent volunteers to help to manage the RAISE RIGHT program moving forward. If you are interested in becoming more involved in this program, please email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Please Keep This FACTS Tuition Summary Information Handy For Tax Time!

Question: How Do I Find My Payment Summary In FACTS?

Answer: This report will show the total paid for each of the accounts (i.e. Tuition, Extended Day Care, Technology, Book fees, etc.). Parents can select a year or a date range for this summary. This will also include the Schools Federal Tax ID and address. Please see directions below.
