April 22, 2021

Dear SPC Parents,

Happy Thursday, SPC!  In the next few weeks, we hope to have more guidance about the end-of-year activities. I appreciate your patience as I await direction from the Archdiocese. As soon as we know dates and activities allowed, I will send out communication.

WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD
Thank you to the committee (Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Archer, Mrs. Spanos, Mrs. Xamplas, Ms. Sullivan, Mrs. O'Connor, Mrs. Sanfrantello) who planned a fun Week of the Young Child for us! Please remember our service project continues into next week.

Thank you to the families that have already generously donated newborn and hygiene kits for our service project, Share Our Spare. You still have time to create kits as a family. We ask that all kits be brought to school no later than Wednesday, April 28.
Spare our Share information here.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL WELLNESS UPDATE
Mrs.Quinn and Counseling Interns will be delivering the SOS (Signs of Suicide) prevention program (in partnership with Elyssa's Mission) in the coming weeks to Grades 6-8. All 6-8 grade parents should have received a separate email message regarding this program from Mrs. Quinn. Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions about the program This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Elyssa's Mission, a community-based organization that provides resources to help prevent teen suicide, would like to remind everyone that suicides start to spike in the spring (April and May). The pandemic has negatively impacted virtually ALL teens' mental health—particularly teens who were already struggling with mental health issues and/or experienced additional stressors related to COVID-19 (e.g., illness of self or family member; parental job loss; inability to participate in sports/hobbies/activities, etc.). Please increase your vigilance at this time of year. Click here for the complete newsletter from Elyssa's Mission.
