December 17, 2020

Dear SPC Families,

WE DID IT! I can honestly say that if I had placed a bet on whether we would still be going strong on December 18th--I would have lost! Thank you for all you have done to keep our amazing school going strong! After a lovely Christmas Vacation and remote learning “reset” in January, I am confident that we are in great shape to end the year as strong as we finished 2020! We will continue to be vigilant with protocols and communication via our Dashboard. We know there is hope as the vaccine starts to roll out, but we can’t rest easy quite yet!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

CHRISTMAS VACATION TRAVEL & REMOTE LEARNING

If you plan to travel over Christmas, please note the travel order from the City of Chicago. It is not advised that you use the two weeks of remote learning as a reason to extend your vacation. However, if you have made that choice, please note the following if you return home after 1/9/2021.  If you travel to an orange state, you will need to send a copy of the negative test results to Mrs. Foy, Mrs. Fletcher, and Dr. M no later than 1/18/21.

NJHS Christmas Drive
Using donations from SPC students & families, the National Junior Honor Society put together 125 care packages. Each package contained a warm hat, pair of gloves, socks, common toiletries, snacks, and a hand written Christmas card from an SPC student. These care packages will be passed out by Catholic Charities to those struggling with homelessness. NJHS was humbled by everyone’s generosity and kindness. Thank you for your support!

FROM THE COMMUNITY

The Chicago Public Library is pleased to announce the 2020 Winter Learning Journey. This program will run from December 1 through January 31. The Learning Journey theme is games and puzzles. This theme is broad and meant to be flexible. Children can take part online, (chipublib.org/LearningJourney) interact with the page below, or use the participation forms attached to this email. If kids need a break from online activities, the participation form is a great way to take part screen-free. Children are welcome to turn in their participation forms at any Chicago Public Library location. The prize will include a kit of fun ways to stay busy this winter; books, a Rubik's cube, model magic and more. CPS has recommended some books and activities, which are included online.
