January 16, 2020

Dear SPC Families,

Roundball Week 2020 has been so much fun! Make sure to mark your calendars for more games tomorrow evening and then the Championship Games and Awards Presentation on Saturday evening. The gym has been full of Tiger spirit since Sunday afternoon and we have all had a wonderful time. Congratulations and thank you to Ryan Fletcher, Joe Haugh, and the SPC Men's Club for all their energy in making this SPC tradition such a treasured success! See below for the full Roundball schedule.

The good news is that the Winter Fun at SPC is not over! In a few short weeks, Saturday, February 8, we have Celebrating the Spirit to look forward to! The RSVP’s have been coming in since the invitations were sent home last Thursday. Directly below my letter you will find information regarding purchasing tickets and/or tables for CTS.

Early Childhood Night of Information
Next Wednesday evening, January 22 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m, we will be having our Winter Early Childhood Night of Information for prospective families. Be sure tell your family and friends about it. Look for information below.

Catholic Schools Week
Full details about the week will be outlined in the next few weeks but please save the date for the All School Family Mass: Sunday January 26th at 9:00am in the Upper Church we will all gather to celebrate Mass. Students who wear their uniform to Mass will receive an out of uniform pass!

Upcoming Open School Board Meeting:
Erin's Law Presentations at SPC January 28th at 7:30pm in the A/B Meeting Room
The January 28th School Board will host a parent information night with Jessica Caccavallo, MSW, LSW from Northwest CASA. Ms Caccavallo will present information on Erin's Law, which is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, Erin Merryn. Erin's Law seeks to implement prevention-oriented child sexual assault program in schools.

Last week the students in grades Preschool-8th grade had brief developmentally appropriate presentations from Northwest CASA on some of the topics below. On January 28th Ms. Caccavallo will cover the curriculum and what was presented at each grade level. I strongly encourage all families to attend the meeting on the 28th. The students’ presentations covered:

  • Safety Everyday
  • Personal Space
  • Safe vs. Unsafe Touches
  • Unsafe secrets/Unsafe games
  • 3-step rule to getting help
  • Identifying trusted adults

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO RSVP

In closing, please remember that there is no school on Monday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We also have no school on February 3rd to celebrate the students making the Tiger Fun Run Goal! While we were hoping that we could celebrate maybe a Chicago Bears Super Bowl appearance, the great news is that the New England Patriots will not be playing!

Peace,
Dr. Erika Mickelburgh
Principal
