Dear SPC Families,
My goodness, we have been spoiled with some fantastic weather! I hope you are all enjoying the calm before the seasonal weather arrives. Thank you to the teams who came and supported the Endowment last Friday! It was such a great evening of community. We raised more than $10,000 that will go directly into the Fund, helping to sustain our mission for future generations. A big thank you to our Endowment Committee for their commitment to ensuring the Fund continues to grow! And...for planning this great event for our SPC Parish and School! Pencil in Trivia Night 2023, same time next year!

ADOPT A FAMILY
SPC has a long-standing tradition of partnering with the parish social service ministry to ensure that needy families in our community have a wonderful Christmas. The Adopt-A-Family program will collect funds and purchase gift cards so families can buy their own gifts. Given the timeline for purchasing the gift cards to ensure timely distribution on December 17th, we will collect funds through December 9th.
100% of these proceeds will go towards the adopt a family program in Social Service Ministry.
WELCOME, Ms. Osorio -New Spanish Teacher!
Mrs. Osorio holds a Degree in Elementary Education with Emphasis in teaching Spanish. She is a Specialist in Teaching and University Research. She also holds a Master's in Education with an Emphasis on Administration and Management of Educational Centers from the most prestigious University of Colombia (her native country) and Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Osorio has been teaching in diverse settings for more than ten years, as she used to work as a Spanish teacher in Colombia working with Pre-k - 12th-grade kids. Two years ago, she started a personal project in Colombia: "Don Quixote Reading and Writing," which designed didactic material to teach reading and writing Spanish using children's literature and at stake. This year's Book Fair is going to be epic! We've turned up the volume with more fun, more choices and more excitement, so kids will arrive curious and leave bolder, prouder, and stronger than ever before. Click here for all of the details about our upcoming fair.
The SPC Life Team is collecting food donations for migrant families staying in local hotels seeking asylum in the US. The food needs to be microwavable. We will be collecting donations of microwavable mac-n-cheese, microwavable Campbell’s chicken soup, and microwavable Chef Boyardee the week of November 7-11th. Please send the donations to your student's classroom.
Cardinal Cupich, along with Catholic Charities, is working to provide shelter, food and support to the asylum seekers as they wait for their hearings. These are legal immigrants who have applied for asylum in our country, because if they go home to their country of origin they will be tortured or killed for their beliefs, faith, etc. Let us continue to help the most vulnerable.

Register NOW for the Winter Session of Chess-Ed’s Chess Enrichment Program
Registration for the Winter Session of the after-school chess program is underway! The 10-week program takes place on Tuesdays from 2-3 pm and runs from 11/29/22 to 2/14/23. The chess program is taught by Chess-Ed instructors and is open to students in 1st through 8th grade and students of all chess abilities. Professional instruction will include the basics for beginning and novice players and build with opening theory, middle game planning, and end game combinations for continuing students. Playing chess improves memory, uses analytical and critical thinking skills, teaches problem solving, responsibility, sportsmanship, social skills and more! The benefits of chess last a lifetime!
