October 6, 2022

Dear SPC Families,

I hope you are enjoying parent-teacher conferences, as they are a valuable opportunity to meet your child's teachers and discuss their progress. We value this time to partner with you.

A reminder that October 15th is the last day when warm weather uniforms can be worn… no more shorts after October 15th.

New Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures Beginning Tuesday, October 11th:

The safety of our students is essential; please follow all the rules. They apply to all individuals picking up and dropping off with no exceptions. Please let me know if any parent is interested in helping with pick-up and drop-off in the kiss-and-go lines.

EGC:

Protocols will remain the same with the EGC. However, please be mindful that traffic on Summit will increase with an added drop-off and pick-up point on Summit. If you park on Summitt or the metra spots, you will notice an increase in traffic dropping off in the morning.

UGC (new drop-off available on Summit)

Students in grades 4-8 (3rd grade will still enter through B10) will now be able to be dropped off on Summit. This will hopefully help the congestion in the big lot. Please note the following:

  • Do not drive east on Summit and drop your child off in the middle of the road! That is unsafe. You must let your child off at the curb when your car is facing westbound.
  • Do not drive east on Summit and then do a u-turn to drop your child off at the curb…. That will send Dr. M into a whirlwind of anger not often witnessed.
  • No u-turns at any time on Summit.
  • Please only send your child across the street at the crosswalk if you are parking in the metra spots. Do not wave your child across the street.
  • There is no left turn out of the main parking lot onto Washington; please follow the signs.

Thank you for adhering to these rules. Ensuring that all our children are dropped off and picked up safely is important, and your cooperation is appreciated. I know these times on campus are busy, but patience is important in keeping everyone safe.

Home & School Association

FUN FAIR!

The Fun Fair is just around the corner and the SPC Home and School Association needs your help with one of the biggest events of the year! This year's fair will be on Monday, October 31st. Children from Kindergarten through 8th grade will have the chance to participate in the fair, which consists of several games with candy prizes inside the school gym. All Preschool rooms will have their own version of the Fun Fair hosted in the EGC building.

Keep your eye on your email next Tuesday. That email will contain the candy assignments per grade level and a Sign Up Genius link for volunteering. We will need volunteers in 3 different areas:

  • Set up Crew on Sunday morning, October 30th
  • A.M., P.M., and full day coverage options for the Fun Fair on Monday, October 31st
  • Clean up Crew from 1:30 - 4 PM on Monday afternoon, October 31st

Only volunteers will be allowed inside the Fun Fair, as it will be closed off to visitors and spectators... so you don't want to miss out on this opportunity to celebrate with the students! As a reminder, all volunteers must be VIRTUS certified.

More information about the event will be released on Tuesday; but until then, let us know if you have any questions at all.
