August 25, 2022

Dear SPC Families,

What a busy 1st week of school! It is one of my favorite times of the year; the classrooms are filled with joy and learning! I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am that our energies are focused on all things school rather than the challenges of the past 2 ½ years! I am very happy to see the students back in regular uniforms!

We have a very full few weeks coming up with Back to School night and the Parent Mixer around the corner. We are trying to minimize the number of emails sent from school each week, so the Thursday mailing is very important to read weekly. Your child's teacher will be sending weekly Classroom Newsletters for grade level-specific news. The purpose of the weekly Thursday mailing is for general school information and updates.

Talking to your Children about Their Day
I like to share this article at the beginning of the school year. As parents, we want to hear all the details of the school day, but when we ask, "How was your day?" we are often met with the "it was fine." This article offers a list of 100 questions that will spark specific answers from your child. I love using these (even with my teenagers).

A Few Notes about Drop off and Pick Up:
I know getting back into the routine of the morning is a challenge, but here are a few reminders:

  • Please do not park in the FM Global lot across the street from the Main Parking Lot or the Ryan Parke Funeral Home on Ridge.
  • Do Not Drop your child off in the street on Washington to cross the street into the parking lot.
  • Please REMAIN IN YOUR CAR if you use the kiss-and-go lines. By getting out of your car on Ridge Terrace, you create an unsafe situation where cars back up on Northwest Highway.
  • When parking in the main lot and walking your children to the building, please only cross where the teachers are. Do not walk between cars; this is dangerous.

Save the Date: ANNUAL SPCMC Golf Outing September 16th!|
Attention all Golfers, Gophers, Drinkers and Loafers -

The summer is winding down and the kids are going back to school. What better way to celebrate, than to gather men by the foursome and play an elegant sport at an incredibly poor level?!?

That's right, the annual SPCMC Golf Outing is back! This event has everything: Tom Finnegan playing the bagpipes, Bob McNamara singing a 4-hour cover of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and Dr. Mike Myer providing free prostate exams at the 1st hole.

We'll even have a "Beat the Priest" closest to the pin, featuring our very own Father James!!

As always, this is a scramble format so anyone can be a winner! String and mulligans can be purchased at the door to help your score.

Please consider sponsoring a hole - all proceeds go toward a worthy cause!

Date: Friday, September 16th.
Time: Check in at 12:00. Shotgun Start – 1:00.
Location: Wilmette Golf Club (3900 Fairway Drive, Wilmette IL)
