August 18, 2022

Dear SPC Families,

We are eagerly anticipating the beginning of the school year! Our amazing faculty returned to school on Monday, and we have had a jam-packed week of professional development, planning, and preparation! At the beginning of the week, we tallied the total years of experience our faculty has…over 900 years! Coupled with the wealth of experience is their passion and commitment to the children and families of St. Paul of the Cross. We are so blessed to have our teachers, and they are all excited to welcome your child to their classrooms next week.

Fr. James and I are excited to see you all at our Back to School Mass and Picnic on Sunday! It will be a fantastic kick-off, rain or shine. I want to thank our SPC Home and School and the team of parent volunteers who are helping coordinate this special event. Please see below for a few important details if you plan to attend.

This week you all should have received welcome letters from your child’s teacher. This letter contains important information about pick-up and drop-off doors as well as the first day of school information. A reminder that on Monday, August 22nd, we have supply drop-off for grades 1-8 from 4:00-6:00 pm! Early Childhood-Kindergarten orientation information was in your welcome letter from your teacher.

Back to School Mass and Picnic
We are very excited to welcome you back to SPC with our first Back to School Mass and Picnic this Sunday!

Mass will begin at 4 pm in the Upper Church. With nearly 650 RSVPs, we encourage you to arrive early. Parking will be available in the main lot and across the street on Washington.

After Mass, there will be boxed dinners with either a hot dog or hamburger, chips, a cookie, and soda / water. The food stations will be located in between the UGC (Upper Grade Center) and Rectory, and then families will proceed to either the Safe Zone (the area near the playground) or the Tiger Lot (the small parking lot near the Tiger statue).

We will have limited tables and chairs set up, but we are encouraging families to bring their own chairs to the event.

In case of rain, the picnic will be moved to the school gym.

We look forward to welcoming everyone on Sunday afternoon and back to school this year! Also, if you're not following Home and School Association on Facebook or Instagram, we encourage you to like our new pages today to find out more about events throughout this year!

Thank you!
Tiffany Braun and Jenny Ramundo

Save the Date: ANNUAL SPCMC Golf Outing September 16th!|
Attention all Golfers, Gophers, Drinkers and Loafers -

The summer is winding down and the kids are going back to school. What better way to celebrate, than to gather men by the foursome and play an elegant sport at an incredibly poor level?!?

That's right, the annual SPCMC Golf Outing is back! This event has everything: Tom Finnegan playing the bagpipes, Bob McNamara singing a 4-hour cover of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and Dr. Mike Myer providing free prostate exams at the 1st hole.

We'll even have a "Beat the Priest" closest to the pin, featuring our very own Father James!!

As always, this is a scramble format so anyone can be a winner! String and mulligans can be purchased at the door to help your score.

Please consider sponsoring a hole - all proceeds go toward a worthy cause!

Date: Friday, September 16th.
Time: Check in at 12:00. Shotgun Start – 1:00.
