Clubs

SPC is the Place to Be for Clubs!

St. Paul offers a variety of clubs and organizations to students of many interests. Listed below are some of the clubs offered after school. Check back for more info on this page as clubs get going and post new information:

Student Council: Students elect a panel of representatives to work with teachers and administration on student activities, charitable functions and school issues.

Academic Team: A team made up of 8th graders that competes against area schools in a Jeopardy-style format.

Math Olympiad: A math enrichment club that meets during lunchtime.

NJHS: National Junior Honor Society is made up of 8th graders who apply and must meet certain academic requirements.

Chess Club: St. Paul of the Cross School's Chess Club meets every week in the Rm. 216.

Senior Science Club is for 7th and 8th graders.  The club does many hands on activities that involve scientific principles.  There is also a Junior Science Club for 5th & 6th grade.

Future Cities Club: The mission of the National Engineers Week Future City Competition is to provide a fun and exciting educational engineering program for seventh- and eighth-grade students that combines a stimulating engineering challenge with a "hands-on" application to present their vision of a city of the future. This will be accomplished by:  Fostering engineering skills, such as teamwork, communication and problem solving skills;
Providing interaction among students, teachers, and engineer mentors;
Informing the community about the multi-disciplines within the engineering profession;
Inspiring students to explore futuristic concepts and careers in engineering.

Girls on the Run: Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. GOTR utilizes a specifically designed tested curriculum for third, fourth and fifth grade girls to enhance the physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of each participant.

Canasta Club: Eighth grade students gather once a week under the instruction and guidance of Mrs. Neumayer to join in the fun and play the card game Canasta.

The Battle of the Books Team meets weekly. This reading competition is open to students in grades 4th - 5th. Students read books and come together with other school teams to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read.

Green Club:  Green Club meets monthly during lunch and recess on a Waste Free Wednesday and is offered to UGC students.  The club talks about important green topics as well as shares ideas, thematic books, and personal experiences.  The Green Club supports the Garvey's Writing Instrument Brigade (upcycling plastic writing instruments so that our nation's landfill's are not further impacted) as well as other "green" school endeavors like Waste Free Wednesdays and milk carton recycling.  Reducing waste at home, as well as on our campus, conserving water and energy, and making positive small changes that can greatly impact our planet are main goals for this energetic club.  Click here to see a slideshow put together by Natalie W. (Grade 5) on the topic of single use plastic bags!
