September Information
So much information is placed on my desk that I would like to share with St. Paul of the Cross students and families.
Two former St. Paul students, now attending Maine South, have recently been listed as National Merit Scholars
Words from a parent that landed on my desk:
“I just wanted to tell you something that my son told me last night while studying. He is in Accelerated Biology at Maine South this year and told me last night that he feels especially well-prepared for this class thanks to Mrs. Stypka. He is currently doing A and A+ work in that class. He feels that he really knows his chemistry and biochemistry from classes in 7 th and 8 th !”
Mrs. Gayford’s 4 th grade students are “pen pals” with seniors who live alone and are lonely. The “pen pals” program is part of services from the Center of Concern, a not-for-profit social service agency serving all of Maine Township. This is part of a program of intergenerational activities. Students will write to their “pen pals” and in the spring will host a tea and meet their “pen pals.”
Eighth grade students from St. Paul joined with eighth grade students from Epiphany School for a field trip to the Field Museum. This is part of the program, Building Bridges Across Communities: Common Concerns-Different Responses, that was developed by St. Paul of the Cross. This is a pilot program initiated through the efforts of our faculty, under the direction of Mrs. Anne Hoversen, and Monica Garcia, from the Field Museum. St. Paul of the Cross and Epiphany are the first schools to participate and what our students accomplish will become the founding curriculum for this program.
