Letter from the Assistant Principal
Thursday, September 14, 2017

Dear St. Paul of the Cross Families,

We have so many amazing things going on throughout our school. The excitement for Walkathon is in the air and the teachers and their classroom teams have begun their friendly annual competition. It will be fun to watch as the competition unfolds. Which team will log the most participation? What creative names will the teams select for themselves? Stay tuned for updates from the Walkathon Committee.

The Soup-er Stadium Challenge donations have been coming in and I am humbled by the generosity of our families who are so willing to help others in need. Please read more about our Soup-er Stadium Challenge in this newsletter.

The Thursday Mailing is filled with a lot of important information, so please read it carefully. This is the main method of communication between school and home. You can read the weekly Thursday email newsletter, or check on our SPC website under the Parents tab/Thursday Mailings. All past Thursday Mailings can also be accessed through the Thursday Mailings page on the website.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful weekend.

God bless,

Mary Therese Iacopelli
Assistant Principal

Soup-er Stadium Challenge!

As stated in last week’s principal letter, SPC will be participating in the Archdiocese of Chicago and Catholic Charities- Soup-er Stadium Challenge. This is an effort to help eliminate hunger in our community. Through this challenge we are able to help people in need. Here at St. Paul of the Cross, we have decided to help our local community by filling the shelves of our parish food pantry.

After speaking with Mrs. Adrienne Timm, our St. Paul of the Cross Parish's social service ministry director, there are certain items that are in greater need. We have put together the most needed items and are dividing them amongst the different grade levels.

Certainly all donations are welcome and needed.

If you would like to participate in the Challenge, please have your child(ren) bring in his/her donation(s) to school anytime between September 12 – October 6. If you would like to make an online donation, please visit SouperStadiumChallenge.org. We thank you in advance for your support and generosity to helping those in need.

A very fond farewell to Mrs. Jacobs
After 28 years at St. Paul of the Cross School, Mrs. Kathleen Jacobs has decided to enjoy some free time with her friends and family. It is called Retirement!

Since this was a recent decision, we were not able to honor Mrs. Jacobs at our end of the year all school Mass. We would like to acknowledge her dedication, commitment, and love she has shown to SPC students for over 28 years!!

We will be compiling words of remembrance, special thoughts and wishes or fond memories to share with her. If you would like to share with us, please send your words, letters, or cards to the school office c/o Linda Foy and have Mrs. Jacobs name on the envelope. We will be presenting her with a basket full of these wishes at a faculty party in her honor.
