Science Focus
7th & 8th Grade
January 27, 2010 |
| Seventh and eighth grade students have recently completed their project reports and will soon begin presenting in class in preparation for judging at our school science fair. Some students will move on to the regional competition in March and the state competition in May. |
7th Grade
In Life Science seventh grade students have been studying genetics and heredity. In a recent lab, students used the "genes" of a marshmallow bug mom and dad to create a new baby bug. There were 75 baby bugs in all and it was amazing to see all the variation in the offspring. Students also enjoyed naming their baby bugs. Next they will be studying the structure and function of DNA. |

8th Grade
In Physical Science eighth grade students have been studying physical and chemical properties of substances, the atom, and are just beginning to learn about the periodic table. Bonding and chemical reactions will be one of the favorite topics to study because there are many labs and demos. |
