Language Arts and Reading.
In reading the 4th graders will be participating in literature circles. They will be reading a class novel in school. My homeroom will be reading their novel with their pen pals from Parkview school in Morton Grove together. They will be doing a project with their pen pals.
In English, we will be starting our Chicago Unit. The Chicago project will be introduced after Spring Break. The due date will be May 5th.
We will be researching animals and writing in school a advantage and disadvantage essay.
Writer's workshop will be coming to an end. Students will be putting together their own writer's book of all essays that they have written throughout the year.
The third edition for our 4th grade newspapers will be coming out in early May.
Starting on Monday March 5th, the students that receive 100% on the spelling pretest will not have to do spelling pages.
Vocabulary will always have to be taken no matter if the student receives 100% on the Vocabulary section
The student may substitute current event for Literature logs.

Editors: Zachary Cmiel, Thomas Vozenilek, Joey Marino, Michael Marino, Steven Manos and Owen Kiokemeister. These students have worked really hard with their homerooms to help develop each of their newspapers.
Classroom newspapers will be coming out each month.
Fantasy book reports are due March 10th.
Students may choose one of the 24 ideas from their project list. They also need to write a three paragraph essay. Their essay can be a take off fantasy story from the book they read or they can create their own fantasy. There will be no book report to fill out this time.
This is the final book report!
Cultural Fair is Wednesday February 10th.
There is no school on the 15th and 22nd.
Mrs. Youkhana's homeroom won a pizza party for having the most students from SPC attend the book fair.
We will be having our party on Friday February 12th-for Valentine's day.
Writer's Workshop is still on Wednesdays and the Newspapers are on Thursday.
